MAY 2025 NEWSLETTER
COBURG HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI would like to thank all those who contributed to the debate about our name. We feel this new name embraces the past but also reflects the on-going nature of our work. The students of today are the historians of tomorrow.
HAVE YOUR CONTACT DETAILS CHANGED?
We aim to keep our data-base of former students up to date. If any of your details change, please let us know via our email [email protected]
Also, if you hear of the death of any school friend or other former student, let us know as sometimes this is the only way we become aware of the situation.
With great sadness we acknowledge the passing of a number of former students and a teacher.
Vale
William {Bill} Parker [1951 Stream]
Dr. Dianne Parkinson [Keenan] [1960 Stream]
Peter Martin [1966 Stream]
Peter Brislin [1966 Stream]
Jill Anwyl [Teacher at CHS in the 60's and 70's]
Also two of our Notable Students. Their stories can be found on our website coburghighhistorical.org
Alan Green [1960 Stream] succumbed to cancer in January this year. Widely accredited as the man who invented board shorts, Alan was well known in the surfing world as the creator of the Quicksilver brand.
Robert Walls [1962 Stream] suffered with Leukemia and left us on 15th of May 2025. A former head prefect at CHS, he was a champion footballer, coach and broadcaster who was included in Carlton's Team of the Century and held 'Legend Status' in the Carlton Football Club Hall of Fame.
On a brighter note we learnt that Arthur Riley, Dux of the school in 1941, turned 100 on the 12TH of May this year. Arthur still likes to keep in touch with his old school and reads all the newsletters.
Happy Birthday Arthur and best wishes from all of us..
