1986 TIME CAPSULE
In 1986 , students of Coburg High School gathered up photos and objects that represented their time and experiences at the school.
These were bundled up into a time capsule which, despite the closure and later demolition of the old school, was saved and kept for posterity by the C.H.S. Historical Group.
In a joint celebration with the new Coburg High School and the Historical Group, the capsule was opened on the 17th of August 2016. This was exactly 100 years to the day that the original school was officially opened in 1916.
In attendance were ex-students from as far back as the 1940's alongside current year seven and eight students.
The interaction between the old and the new students made for a wonderful morning as two of our oldest ex-students,
Bruce Henshall and Arthur Chantry, opened the capsule.
The contents of this capsule will be on display at the Centenary Celebration on 23rd of October 2016 and then re-buried along with a new capsule representing today's school.
