OCTOBER 2023 NEWSLETTER
Hello to all CHS Alumni.
Over the past few months we have had a major problem with our email service. Over 60% of our data base did not receive our August newsletter and the same thing occurred when we attempted to send it again the following week.
It has taken a considerable amount of time and effort to identify and then resolve the issue. We hope we have managed to do that, so with apologies to the small group who did receive the original in August, here it is.
Your Historical Group is pleased to welcome some new members to our ranks. Ruth Modulon, Fotini Tsiatis, Steve Korkoneas and John Sachinidis. John lives near the old school site and was responsible for retrieving the bell and lettering after the buildings were demolished.
There is always plenty of work to do keeping the memory of our old school alive and we appreciate any help we are offered
We are sad to hear of the passing of a number of well-known and respected ex-students.
Ken Downes, {1957}, Daryl Cleeve {1957}, Peter Spargo {1974}, Lorna Purser [Louchard] {1937} and one of our Notables, Noel Clough {1949},
We extend our condolences to their families and those who carry fond memories of their shared experiences at CHS.
Did you know that Noel Clough set a Commonwealth Games record for the 880 yards run at Kingston, Jamaica in 1966 which still stands today? Click on his name under Notable Students on our website to read about it.
DO YOU OFTEN THINK OF YOUR CHS FRIENDS?
HAVE YOU HAD RECENT CONTACT WITH THEM?
WHY NOT ORGANISE A REUNION?
We can
1. send details of your function directly to those of your group whose email details are on our data-base.
2. advertise your event in our newsletter and on our web-site.
3. have your contact details placed on Facebook.
You might like to hold the reunion near CHS, particularly if it is on or near an anniversary of your time at CHS, or perhaps in the CBD, central to transport.
Look under “Reunions” on our website www.coburghighhistorical.org to see what other groups have done recently.
We look forward to helping you renew contact with your CHS friends.
