WEDDING BELLS

Several CHS students met their future life partners at school.
Here are a few that we know of including some who were in the same class.
We'd love to find more / Tell us if you or any others you know of should be here.
Photos and information will only be added with the couple's approval.

PROFESSOR HARRY RIGBY AND NORMA ROBERTSON

PictureNorma Robertson
Norma Robertson and Harry Rigby were students at CHS in the 1937 stream.
Both feature in our    Notable Former Students section.
These snapshots have been extracted from the only class photo we have of this group, taken in 1940.

Julian Tooey [1944 stream]  suggests we rename CHS as the 'Love School'

These were the marriages he recalls from the 1944 and'45 streams.
[ details provided in Juns 2019]

Julian Toohey married Meryl Eddy

Ian Jones married Marje Withall

Ken Beckett married  Jocelyn Piggott

Graham Gilchrist married Beverley Worsnop

And he thinks Colin Moseley married Mavis Cron.
But he's not sure, so if anyone knows, please tell us before we get into trouble for false reporting.

Warwick Parkinson and Dr. Dianne Keenan [1960 stream]

A little ditty 'bout Rick and Dianne                                                           [With apologies to John Mellancamp]
Two young kids growing up in Coburg land
Rick he's gonna be an Engineer
Dianne reckons Medicine would be a good career
Oh yeah, life goes on
Long after the days of high school have gone.

PictureForm 3 1962
Warwick and Dianne went through Coburg High School together from form one through to form six.
Warwick was sports champion and head prefect in 1965 and gained entry to Melbourne University Engineering School in 1966.
Dianne was also an outstanding student who managed to do what few young women from public high schools did in those days by gaining entry to Melbourne University School of Medicine.
Warwick and Dianne married in 1971  and have three daughters.

At last report in 2017 there were nine grandchildren.

Although Lyn's brother, Robert, was in the same year level as Jim at C.H.S, Jim and Lyn didn't meet at school, but met a few years later at Holy Trinity Anglican Church. They were married on the 21st November 1970 and have two children, Steven [1971] and Jenny [1974].
Sadly Lyn passed away on 3rd July 2010 after a long battle with breast cancer.
The Hiho family had a long connection with Coburg High School with Derrick [1958] Robert [1960]Lyn [1961] June [1964] and Kaye [1967].
