DECEMBER 2020 UPDATE

Hello to all ex-students and teachers of Coburg High School. This strange year is nearly over so it's time to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year. There is good news for those of us still in Victoria and particularly Melbourne. The State is opening up again with friends and relatives able to resume the social connections we all miss so much.
For those of you interstate and throughout the world we hope you are keeping safe and well.

This year marks the completion of the new Coburg High School as a genuine year 7 to 12 campus. The Principal, staff and student body have embraced the history of the original school and moves are afoot to create an Alumni Association which will encourage students to continue connection with the school after graduation.
The Historical Group is working with the school to see how we can assist with this process and to enable our archives and memorabilia to be preserved.

On behalf of all Coburg High Alumni, your Historical Group has worked with School Principal Stewart Milner to send a video message of encouragement and support to the  current year twelve students. These young people have had to tackle their most important school year under incredibly difficult circumstances. The message was sent out via the school twitter account and was very well received.
You can find this video featured on the home page of our website or go directly to it under Publications.

We find that a significant number of emails we send out are unopened. Our server believes they are being automatically sent to trash by the recipient device because we use a generic Hotmail address. Following this advice,  the school have created a new email address for us to use in future correspondence. We have decided to send this email twice, using both addresses. So if you get it twice, you know why. If you only get the one addressed through the new email address [alumni@coburg.vic.edu.au] then you have  probably been missing all of our regular updates.

They are available on our website     To make sure you receive all our ewsletters, please add our new email address to your Address Book                alumni@coburg.vic.edu.au
VALE VIC WOOD OAM
It is with great sadness that we note the passing of Vic Wood who taught woodwork at CHS in the 1960's as well as coaching the school tennis teams. He went on to become Australia's leading expert, innovator and teacher in the field of wood turning. His remarkable career has been featured on our website under ''Facts from our Files''  and is well worth a look. Read how he inadvertently helped a murderer escape from Pentridge.
