CLASS PHOTOS

In the early days at Coburg High School, very few class photos were taken. The 'SCRIBE' and the 'ECHOES' magazines contain many group images, mostly of prefects and sporting teams, but it wasn't until 1960 that the practice of producing annual class photos was commenced. Each student received a copy and the school kept one for it's archives.
Thanks to the foresight of the founding members of the Historical Group, most of these archived photos were saved when the old school was demolished and have been preserved and reproduced here. To find your class photos, simply go to your 'Stream' which is the year your class started in form one [or year seven] |

If you started your time at CHS in a later year, you work out what year your class mates were in form one or year seven. That is your stream.
The early years from 1916 to 1955
Most of these photos have been reproduced from "THE SCRIBE" and the "ECHOES"

During the years 1931 to 1936 there were no school magazines printed.

1937 to 1954
Most of these photos have come from school magazines or the personal archives of ex-students
In 1960 class photos became an annual ritual. So the first photo taken was of the sixth form which had commenced in 1955 and were then in their 'matriculation year.
From this point, class photos were taken routinely every year.
Up until 1975 these were black and white, but of good quality and the School's copies were carefully archived in heavy-duty albums.

In 1976 the school switched to colour photos. Unfortunately the folders used to archive these photos were not the quality albums of the 1960's and some of these photos have deteriorated.
