ALAN GREEN
Alan Green attended Coburg High School in from 1960 to 1964. until the lure of the Torquay surf became too strong too resist. Alan was a strong swimmer who took to the growing surfing craze of the 1960's with a passion.
He was described by his class mates as a "tough-nut" who didn't take a back step in the schoolyard or on a wave.
But Alan was an entrepreneur as well as a surfer. He designed swim wear for surfing, or board shorts as we now call them and started to make them for other surfers. This enterprise expanded into wetsuits and other surf gear.
The company that Alan started in his garage, Quicksilver, became one of the leading sports apparel brands in the world.
