JANE TANNER
Jane Tanner is a well known children’s book illustrator and author. Her work has been published in Australia,
U.K, U.S.A, Japan and Korea and her pictures are exhibited in major collections through out Australia.
Born in Melbourne 1946, Jane grew up in Coburg and Pascoe Vale South. She attended Coburg High School
1959-1964 and graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in painting and printmaking.
Jane became a secondary school art teacher until the early 1980s when she took up full time book illustration.
The first book she illustrated (There’s a Sea in My Bedroom/author Margaret Wild) became an Australian
classic and is still in print today.
Jane’s work has won or been shortlisted for many awards.
