JOHN MATHEWS

John Mathews attended Coburg High School from 1952 to 1957
An exceptional student he topped his class in most years and was dux of the school in 1957.
John also featured prominently in athletics and was a prefect in his final year.
He was editor of the 'Echoes' magazine in 1956 and was awarded a bursary by the Science Teachers Association.
John went on to a distinguished career in medicine and science, becoming one of Australia's leading authorities in the study of epidemilogy.
